The price is agreed first

You get the price before any work begins. If we find something else, we stop and tell you rather than adding it to the bill.

What it costs to find out

The exact price is confirmed before any work begins. Complex faults, including liquid damage, no-power, intermittent faults and logic board issues, carry a €30 diagnostic fee. If you go ahead with the quoted repair, the €30 is credited in full toward the repair cost. If the device cannot be repaired, no repair charge applies beyond any agreed diagnostic or assessment fee.

ExpressTech repairs every iPhone 12 model at its Dublin 2 workshop and by nationwide Collection & Return across Ireland: the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Every repair ExpressTech offers on iPhone is available for this generation: screens, batteries, charging ports, back glass, rear cameras, camera lenses and liquid damage diagnostics.

The iPhone 12 line arrived in 2020 and introduced three things that still shape how these phones are repaired: flat sides, MagSafe magnets in the back, and OLED displays across the whole range. The exact price is confirmed up front where the fault is clear, and walk-in screen and battery replacements are usually completed in about 60 minutes.

You can walk in Monday to Saturday at Dublin 2 without an appointment. If you are outside Dublin, Collection & Return runs Monday to Friday for €30 flat per shipment, round trip, tracked and insured, door to door. Both routes are the same repair, by the same technicians, at the same price.

ExpressTech has been trusted across Ireland since 2007 and holds 1,000+ Google reviews at 4.5 stars. Every repair is priced and confirmed with you before any work begins.

Which iPhone 12 do you have, and what it means for the repair

Telling the four models apart

The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro are the same size, which is the only genuinely confusing pair in this generation. Count the rear cameras: two lenses is the iPhone 12, three lenses is the 12 Pro. The finish helps too, since the Pro has a polished stainless steel band around the edge where the standard 12 has matte aluminium.

The other two are separated by size alone. The 12 mini is 5.4 inches and noticeably small in the hand. The 12 Pro Max is 6.7 inches and the largest phone Apple had made at that point.

To confirm exactly, open Settings, then General, then About, and read Model Name. ExpressTech identifies the model on arrival at no cost.

What changed in this generation that affects repairs

Flat sides. The 12 moved away from the curved edges of the 11. A flat-edged phone lands differently when dropped, and impacts tend to concentrate on a corner rather than spreading along a curve. In practice that means iPhone 12 screens crack from corner impacts more often than the generation before.

Ceramic Shield. Apple introduced a tougher front cover glass with this generation. It is genuinely more drop resistant than what came before, but it is not scratch-proof and it is not unbreakable. Plenty of iPhone 12 screens still arrive cracked, and Ceramic Shield does nothing at all for the rear glass.

MagSafe. A ring of magnets sits behind the rear glass. This matters for back glass replacement, because the magnet array and the wireless charging coil have to be transferred or replaced correctly or MagSafe accessories stop snapping into place. It is a detail worth asking any repairer about.

OLED everywhere. Unlike the 11 generation, all four iPhone 12 models use OLED, so there is no cheap LCD option anywhere in this range. Screen prices vary by size rather than by panel type.

What this generation is coming in for now

Batteries dominate. An iPhone 12 is now several years into its life, and the 12 mini feels it first because a smaller phone carries a smaller cell, so the same percentage of wear removes more of a working day. If your mini no longer reaches the evening, that is expected wear rather than a defect.

Screens are the second most common, and the corner-impact pattern described above is why. Charging ports are third, and this generation still uses Lightning, so the usual advice applies: check the port with a torch for compacted lint before assuming the port has failed.

Back glass is more common on the 12 than on earlier generations, partly because flat sides make a rear-face landing more likely.

Face ID and screen replacement

The iPhone 12 line uses Face ID. ExpressTech transfers the original Face ID components to the new display as standard during a screen replacement, so Face ID continues to work afterwards.

Face ID hardware is paired to the individual phone at the factory. If those components are themselves damaged, no repairer can replace them, including Apple. Where that is the case you are told before the repair, not after.

Is an iPhone 12 still worth repairing?

For a single repair on an otherwise sound phone, almost always. A battery replacement returns an iPhone 12 to full-day use for a small fraction of what a current handset costs, and the cameras and performance remain perfectly capable.

The calculation changes when repairs stack. A 12 needing a screen and a back glass together approaches the value of a good used replacement, and ExpressTech will say so rather than quote both without comment. Liquid damage on a phone of this age carries the same honest caveat as any liquid case: no outcome can be guaranteed, and the diagnostic tells you where you stand before you commit.

Parts and quality

ExpressTech uses the right quality part for the device and repair: Soft OLED screens — the iPhone screen standard — with one clear price per model, and a choice of two battery qualities with Genuine Apple available where supply allows. What applies to your model is explained before any work begins.

On this generation, fitting a non-Genuine battery removes the Battery Health percentage from Settings, and iOS may show a parts notice after a non-Genuine replacement. Neither affects how the repair performs. ExpressTech is an independent repair specialist by choice and does not claim any manufacturer authorisation.

Warranty

Every completed repair at ExpressTech is backed by a 12-month warranty on parts and workmanship. It covers faulty parts and workmanship, but does not cover new accidental damage, misuse or unrelated faults after the repair.

Liquid damage repairs are excluded from the 12-month warranty due to the risk of ongoing corrosion, and this is explained before any liquid damage work is approved.

Common questions about iPhone 12 repairs

Will MagSafe still work after a back glass replacement? Yes, when the repair is done properly. The magnet array and wireless charging coil are transferred or replaced as part of the job, and MagSafe is tested before the phone goes back to you.

My iPhone 12 mini battery is much worse than my old phone. Is it faulty? Probably not. The mini carries a physically smaller battery, so the same percentage of capacity loss costs you more usable hours. A replacement restores it.

Is Ceramic Shield repairable on its own? No. It is the front cover glass of a laminated display assembly, so a cracked front means replacing the assembly. Anyone offering to replace only the glass is separating and re-bonding the panel, which ExpressTech does not do.

Will my iPhone 12 still be water resistant afterwards? No, and no repair centre can restore the original rating once a phone has been opened. ExpressTech reseals during reassembly, which returns splash resistance. The iPhone repair page explains what the rating actually covers.

Will I lose my data? No. The phone is not wiped in order to repair it, and a passcode is not required for most repairs. Back up beforehand as a general precaution.

The questions people actually ask.

How long does an iPhone 12 repair take?

Most iPhone 12 screen and battery repairs are completed in around 60 minutes. We'll always confirm the expected turnaround before any work begins. Visit our store any time during opening hours, no appointment needed. For Local Collection & Return customers, allow 3 to 4 working days.

Is my data safe during the repair?

Yes. We do not access your data during standard hardware repairs, and it is never accessed, transferred or erased unless you explicitly ask us to carry out a data-related service. We recommend keeping a backup as a general precaution.

What warranty do you provide on iPhone 12 repairs?

Every iPhone 12 repair comes with a 12-month warranty on parts and workmanship. If a fault related to the repair appears within that period, we fix it at no charge.

Do you offer iPhone 12 repairs nationwide?

Yes. Walk in to our Dublin 2 workshop, post your device to us from anywhere in Ireland, or book Local Collection & Return in Dublin and local areas (€30 flat per shipment, round trip). Every repair is done at our Dublin 2 workshop. VAT invoices available for all business and school repairs. Trusted since 2007 with over 1,000 Google reviews.
