My battery is not behaving
Batteries wear over time, and most battery faults are a straightforward battery replacement. Draining fast, dropping in big jumps, poor battery health, or shutting down with charge left are all signs of an aged battery. A swollen battery is different and needs care. A battery fault is not the same as a charging fault, so it helps to know which you have before you book.
A swollen or bulging battery, a lifting screen or back, or a device that runs hot is a safety risk. Stop using it, do not press on it, do not charge it, and bring it in for safe handling.
What you might be seeing
Drains much faster than it used to
A full charge does not last the day. Usually an aged battery that has lost capacity.
Battery health warning, or low health
The device reports reduced battery health or a service message. A replacement restores capacity.
Shuts down suddenly with charge left
It powers off at 20 to 40 percent, often in the cold. A classic sign of a worn battery.
Will not hold charge, drops in big jumps
The percentage falls quickly or unevenly. The cell can no longer hold a steady charge.
Swollen battery: lifting screen or back
The screen or back is bulging or lifting, or gaps are opening. This is a safety issue, handle with care.
Runs hot, or feels slow
It heats up, or the system limits performance to protect an aged battery. A new battery usually restores normal speed.

Why is my battery draining so fast?

It charges but does not hold. Is that the battery or the charging port?
