My device won’t charge
A device that will not charge is not always a broken charging port. Often it is the cable, the plug or debris in the port, and sometimes it is the battery or liquid inside. Here is how to tell the difference before you book, so you get the right repair the first time.
If the device got wet, do not charge it. Charging a device with liquid inside is when most extra damage happens.
What you might be seeing
Nothing happens when plugged in
No charging symbol, no light, no response. Often a cable, plug or port issue, sometimes the battery.
Charges only at a certain angle
It charges if you hold the cable just so. Usually a loose or worn charging port, or a failing cable.
Shows the charging symbol but does not gain power
It looks like it is charging but the percentage does not rise. Often a battery or a board level fault.
Drops quickly or dies at higher percentages
The device shuts down with charge remaining, or drains fast. Usually a battery that has aged.
Was exposed to liquid
It stopped charging after contact with water or a spill. Treat this as liquid damage, not a simple port.
Will not turn on at all
Completely dead, even on a known good charger. Best confirmed with a diagnostic.
