Charging port repair on the iPhone 11 series, in detail

Six years of insertions
The iPhone 11 series uses a Lightning connector, and by now every one of these phones has been plugged in several thousand times. That is what wears a port: repeated mechanical load on the same small contacts, plus the sideways strain of a cable pulled out at an angle.
On a phone this age a genuinely worn port is common rather than unlucky. The tell is a cable that has to be held at a particular angle, or one that works in some sockets and not others.
