Irish-owned since 2007 · 1,000+ Google reviews at 4.5 stars.

The price is agreed first

You get the price before any work begins. If we find something else, we stop and tell you rather than adding it to the bill.

What it costs to find out

The exact price is confirmed before any work begins. Complex faults, including liquid damage, no-power, intermittent faults and logic board issues, carry a €30 diagnostic fee. If you go ahead with the quoted repair, the €30 is credited in full toward the repair cost. If the device cannot be repaired, no repair charge applies beyond any agreed diagnostic or assessment fee.

Turnaround you can plan around

Diagnostic time depends on the fault.

The warranty

Corrosion can continue after treatment, so liquid damage repairs are excluded from the 12-month warranty.

Samsung Galaxy liquid damage diagnostics and treatment at ExpressTech, an independent repair specialist in Dublin 2 serving customers throughout Ireland. Liquid damage is assessed and treated across the Galaxy S range from S24 back through S23, S22, S21, S20 and S10, along with the Galaxy Note series. Walk in to the Dublin workshop, or send the phone by nationwide Collection & Return.

Liquid damage is a complex fault rather than a clear one, so it carries a €30 diagnostic fee. If you go ahead with the quoted repair, the €30 is credited in full toward the repair cost. Diagnostic time depends on the fault, and ExpressTech confirms the expected timing before starting.

You can walk in Monday to Saturday at Dublin 2 with no appointment, and with a wet phone the sooner the better. If you are outside Dublin, Collection & Return runs Monday to Friday for €30 flat per shipment, round trip, tracked and insured, door to door.

ExpressTech has been trusted across Ireland since 2007 and holds 1,000+ Google reviews at 4.5 stars. Liquid damage repairs are excluded from the 12-month warranty due to the risk of ongoing corrosion, and this is explained in full before any work is approved.

What to do in the first ten minutes

What happens immediately after a Galaxy gets wet affects the outcome more than anything ExpressTech does afterwards. Four things matter.

Power it off, and leave it off. This is the single most important step. Water alone is survivable. Water plus electrical current is what destroys a phone, because it drives corrosion across live circuits within minutes and can short components outright. If the phone is still on, hold Volume Down and the Side key together for around ten seconds.

Do not charge it, and do not plug it into anything. Not to test it, not to see if it still works, not even wirelessly. Charging a wet phone is the most common way a recoverable device becomes an unrecoverable one.

Do not put it in rice. Rice does not draw moisture out of a sealed phone. The water is already inside a housing rice cannot reach, and all the rice does is introduce starch and dust into the ports while you wait. The delay is the damage.

Get it in quickly. Corrosion inside a wet phone progresses over hours, not days. A phone opened and cleaned the same day has a genuinely better chance than the same phone brought in a week later, and that difference is larger than most people expect.

Not all liquid is equal

Tell ExpressTech what the phone went into, because it changes both the treatment and the realistic outlook.

Clean fresh water is the best case. It carries relatively little dissolved material, and a phone recovered from it quickly often does well.

Salt water is the worst case by a wide margin. Sea water is highly conductive and aggressively corrosive, and damage continues at speed even after the phone appears dry. A Galaxy that went into the sea should be treated as urgent, today rather than tomorrow.

Chlorinated pool water sits between the two and is harder on internal metals than fresh water.

Sugary drinks, coffee and alcohol leave sticky residue behind as they dry, and that residue keeps attracting moisture long after the spill. A phone that survived a spilt pint and seems fine can fail weeks later for exactly this reason.

Check the liquid indicator yourself

Samsung builds a liquid damage indicator into Galaxy phones, and you can read it without any tools.

Eject the SIM tray using the pin that came with the phone, then look into the slot with a torch. There is a small sticker visible inside. White or silver means no liquid has reached it. Pink or red means it has been triggered.

Two honest caveats. A triggered indicator confirms liquid ingress but says nothing about how much damage was done, and plenty of triggered phones are repairable. An untriggered indicator does not prove the phone is dry either, because liquid can enter elsewhere and never reach the sticker. It is a useful data point rather than a verdict, and it is worth checking before you come in.

Why your Galaxy was rated IP68 and still got wet

This is the question people ask most, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a defensive one.

An IP68 rating is earned in a laboratory, on a new device, in still fresh water, at a stated depth and time. It is a test result, not a promise about the sea, a swimming pool, a shower, or a phone that has been in a pocket for three years.

The seals are adhesive and rubber gaskets, and they age. Heat, daily flexing, drops that do not crack anything visible, and simple time all degrade them. A three-year-old Galaxy does not have the water resistance it had in the box, and nothing about that is a defect.

Pressure matters too. Water forced into a phone, by a wave, a dive, or a jet from a tap, enters far more readily than water the phone is simply resting in.

Once a phone has been opened for any repair at any repair centre, including a manufacturer service centre, the factory seal is gone. ExpressTech reseals every device during reassembly, which restores splash resistance, and it does not represent a repaired phone as retaining its original IP rating. Treat any repaired Galaxy as no longer water resistant. That is true here and it is true everywhere.

What the diagnostic actually involves

Liquid damage is not a single repair with a single price, which is why it is quoted after inspection rather than before.

The phone is opened and inspected under magnification. Corrosion is mapped across the board and connectors, and the liquid indicators are read. Where appropriate the board is removed and ultrasonically cleaned to lift corrosion and residue from under components where a cloth cannot reach. It is then dried, reassembled and powered up in stages, testing each subsystem in turn: charging, display, touch, cameras, speakers, microphones and network.

Only then can anyone tell you what is actually wrong and what it will cost, and only then is a price quoted. No additional paid work is carried out without your approval.

The honest limitations

This section exists because liquid damage is where customers are most often told what they want to hear.

No outcome is guaranteed. A phone can be cleaned properly, come back to life, and fail again in three weeks because corrosion has continued inside a component. Any repairer who promises a wet phone will be fine is guessing.

Data recovery cannot be guaranteed, by ExpressTech or by anyone else. If the storage chip itself is damaged, the data may not be retrievable at any price. Where recovery is the priority rather than the phone, say so at the start, because it changes the approach.

The repair may not be worth doing. On an older Galaxy with extensive corrosion, the cost of attempting it can exceed what the phone is worth, with no guaranteed result. ExpressTech will say so plainly rather than take the work.

The 12-month warranty does not apply. Liquid damage treatment may restore function, but corrosion can continue after repair, so long-term stability cannot be guaranteed. That is why these repairs are excluded from the warranty. You will be told this before any work is approved, not after.

If your phone still works after getting wet

A Galaxy that gets wet and carries on working is not necessarily fine. Corrosion needs neither water nor time to be visible, and the common pattern is a phone that works perfectly for two to six weeks and then develops a fault that looks unrelated: a microphone people cannot hear you through, a charging port that stops responding, a camera with a haze, a battery that suddenly drains.

If the phone is important to you, having it opened and cleaned while it is still working is far cheaper than repairing what corrosion does later. If you would rather wait and see, back it up now and keep backing it up.

One immediate thing to watch for: if the phone shows a moisture warning and refuses to charge, that is the phone protecting itself. Leave it unplugged, let it dry, and use wireless charging in the meantime.

Common questions about Samsung liquid damage repair

How long will it take? Diagnostic time depends on the fault. Liquid damage is investigative work rather than a scheduled repair, and ExpressTech confirms expected timing once the phone has been inspected.

How much will it cost? The €30 diagnostic is the only figure that can be quoted up front, and it is credited in full toward the repair if you go ahead. Anyone quoting a fixed liquid damage price before opening the phone is quoting a guess.

Will you need my PIN? Usually only to test the phone fully after treatment. Your data is not accessed, transferred or erased unless you explicitly ask for a data-related service.

Is it too late? Not necessarily, even months later. It is a weaker position than the same phone brought in the same day, and ExpressTech will give you a realistic view after the diagnostic rather than an optimistic one before it.

Will you know what caused it? Usually. Corrosion patterns show where liquid entered and how far it travelled, and that is part of what the diagnostic reports back to you.

My phone was dropped in water and now the screen is faulty. Treat it as a liquid case first. Replacing the screen on a phone with untreated corrosion often means replacing it twice. See Samsung screen repair for what that repair involves, but have the liquid assessed before committing to it.
