ExpressTech Certified Refurbished, Explained
In short
What Grade A actually means, what we test, how stock states work, and the promise behind every Certified device.
Buying a refurbished device comes down to one question: can I trust what I can't see? Here is exactly what our Certified standard means — and what it deliberately doesn't claim.
What Grade A means
Grade A means excellent overall cosmetic condition. Minor signs of previous use may be present, but the phone is clean, premium and ready for everyday use. We don't publish a multi-grade ladder — Grade A is the only grade we sell.
What "ExpressTech Certified Refurbished" is — and isn't
It is our own in-house standard: the device was selected for Grade A condition and given final ExpressTech testing before handover. It is not an Apple certification, not a manufacturer scheme, and not a third-party badge — we frame it as our standard because that's exactly what it is.
What we test
Every Certified device goes through our test checklist before sale: battery health, display, cameras, charging, speakers, buttons, wireless connectivity, and Face ID or Touch ID where applicable.
Stock states, honestly
In Store Now means the device is physically in store, ready for same-day collection after final checks. Available to Order means usually ready in 3 to 4 working days after final ExpressTech checks. We never label an Available-to-Order device as "in stock".
The promise behind the sale
We only complete the sale once the device has passed our final checks. If an ordered iPhone does not meet our standard, we offer an alternative or a full refund.
What's included
Refurbished iPhones are supplied unlocked unless clearly stated otherwise, and every device is covered by the standard 12-month warranty on parts and workmanship. In-store data transfer and setup — iCloud, photos, apps, WhatsApp where possible — is available when you ask for it; consistent with our data-safety standard, we only touch your data when you explicitly request a data service.
Certified and repair: one company
The same workshop that repairs devices tests Certified ones — the same bench standard, the same warranty. If your current device is worth keeping, we'll tell you honestly that repair is the better choice; see device care and repair-vs-replace.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I see current Certified stock?
The refurbished collection shows what's genuinely available — we never invent stock or battery health.
Is the battery new?
Battery health is part of the test checklist on every device. We state what's true for each device rather than making a blanket claim.
