How Your Repair Works, Step by Step
In short
The exact stages every ExpressTech repair moves through — from ticket created to ready for collection — and what happens at each one.
Every repair at ExpressTech moves through the same named stages, whether you walk in to Dublin 2 or send your device from anywhere in Ireland. These are the actual statuses our workshop uses — the same ones you'll see in updates by text and email.
The stages
- Ticket created — your repair exists in our system with its own ticket details.
- Device received — your device is physically with us, whether handed over the counter or arrived by post or courier.
- Assessment started — a technician confirms the fault. Assessment is free where the fault is clear — screen, battery, back glass and obvious charging issues. Complex faults, including liquid damage, no-power, intermittent faults and logic board issues, carry a €30 diagnostic fee, credited in full toward the repair if you go ahead.
- Waiting for approval — if anything needs your decision, work pauses until you've approved it. No additional paid work is carried out without customer approval: if we find another issue during repair, we explain it clearly and confirm the cost before proceeding.
- Waiting for parts — only when a part genuinely needs to be sourced. Common parts are usually sourced within 24 hours.
- In repair — the work itself, carried out by the technician at the bench.
- Testing — before a device leaves the bench, ExpressTech tests the repaired function and the key surrounding functions affected by the repair.
- Ready for collection / ready for courier return — you're notified the moment your device is ready.
- Completed — the repair is done and covered by the 12-month warranty on parts and workmanship.
How you stay informed
Customers receive updates by text and email at real stage changes, and can track progress using their ticket details. We never invent stages or send updates that don't correspond to something that actually happened.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an appointment to start a repair?
No — walk-ins are welcome at our Dublin 2 workshop, no appointment needed. You can also post your device yourself, use An Post at participating locations across Ireland, or arrange courier collection.
What if you find something else wrong during the repair?
Work pauses at "waiting for approval". We explain the issue clearly and confirm the cost before doing anything further — always.
