Could a cheaper fix be enough?
If the glass is intact but the display is black while the phone still rings or vibrates, don’t book a screen replacement yet — that pattern can be a connector or board issue, and an assessment first is the cheaper way to be sure.

What happens if I wait?
Cracks tend to spread with everyday pressure and temperature changes, and broken glass leaves the display underneath open to moisture and dust. A screen that still responds today can deteriorate as the damage travels. There is no advantage to waiting — the repair does not get smaller.
