If you accidentally spill water, wine, coffee, or any liquid on your MacBook Air 13" Retina, don't panic and especially don't try to dry your device with a blow dryer (this will burn fragile components in the motherboard)! When the liquid comes into contact with the MacBook, you can experience a wide assortment of issues, from software, battery, sound, or display.
The longer you hold off repairs, the more significant the damage extends to the rest of your computer. Most often, issues derive from damaged logic board components that come in contact with the liquid. Our technicians can repair the affected components instead of having to replace the logic board. Apple only replaces the logic board, saving you not only time but money!

We would advise double-checking if your MacBook screen were affected and maybe uneconomical to repair the logic board and replace your device with a new screen.

What happens next

  1. Book or walk in

    Walk in to 110 Baggot Street Lower, Dublin 2, prepay online, or book Collection & Return — tracked and insured, door to door, Monday to Friday.

  2. Assessment

    Assessment is free where the fault is clear — screen, battery, back glass and obvious charging issues. Complex faults, including liquid damage, no-power, intermittent faults and logic board issues, carry a €30 diagnostic fee. If you go ahead with the quoted repair, the €30 is credited in full toward the repair cost.

  3. Your approval

    No additional paid work is carried out without customer approval. If we find another issue during repair, we explain it clearly and confirm the cost before proceeding.

  4. Repair and testing

    Before a device leaves the bench, ExpressTech tests the repaired function and the key surrounding functions affected by the repair.

  5. Ready

    Collect in store, or your device is returned by tracked, insured courier.

You’ll receive updates by text and email and can track your repair using your ticket details. The stages you’ll see: Ticket created → Device received → Assessment started → Waiting for approval → Waiting for parts → In repair → Testing → Ready for collection or courier return → Completed.

12-month warranty

Every completed repair is backed by a 12-month warranty on parts and workmanship. It covers faulty parts and workmanship, but does not cover new accidental damage, misuse or unrelated faults after the repair. Liquid damage repairs are excluded from the 12-month warranty due to the risk of ongoing corrosion.
