Which iPhone do you have, and why it matters
Repair prices and parts differ significantly between iPhone models that look almost identical. An iPhone 13 and an iPhone 13 Pro use different display assemblies. An iPhone 14 Plus and an iPhone 14 Pro Max share no screen parts at all. Identifying the exact model is the first step in any accurate iPhone repair quote.
To identify your iPhone model exactly, open Settings, then General, then About, and read the Model Name field. If the screen is too damaged to read, the model number is etched on the rear glass near the bottom of the phone. ExpressTech identifies the model on arrival if you are unsure, at no cost.
iPhone symptoms, what causes them, and which repair each needs
Cracked front glass with the display still working. This is caused by impact and is repaired by replacing the screen assembly. It is worth doing promptly: once the outer glass is broken, dust and moisture reach the display layers, and a straightforward screen replacement can become a more expensive repair. See iPhone screen repair.
A green, pink or white line down the iPhone display. This is internal OLED panel failure, usually following a drop or sustained pressure on the screen. It does not recover on its own and typically spreads over days or weeks. Screen replacement is the only repair for it.
Touch responding in some areas of the screen but not others. This is caused either by digitiser failure within the display assembly, or by a display connector that has worked loose — often after a previous repair elsewhere. ExpressTech diagnoses which of the two it is before quoting.
An iPhone that shuts down above 20% charge, or dies quickly in cold weather. This is normal lithium-ion battery wear. Battery cells lose usable capacity with age and charge cycles, and cold accelerates the effect, which is why an Irish winter will expose a battery that seems adequate indoors. See iPhone battery replacement.
An iPhone that only charges at a certain angle, or not at all. In many cases this is pocket lint compacted into the base of the charging port rather than a hardware fault, and it can often be resolved without a repair — see Before you book, below. Where the port itself has failed, see iPhone charging port repair.
Cracked glass on the back of an iPhone. From iPhone 8 onward the rear glass is bonded to the frame and requires laser separation to remove without damaging the housing. This is a workshop repair rather than a panel swap, which is why it is priced differently from front screen work. See iPhone back glass repair.
Blurry iPhone photos, or a rattle from the camera. These are two different repairs. If the glass covering the camera is chipped or scratched, it is a camera lens repair. If photos are blurry with the lens glass intact, or the camera rattles audibly when the phone vibrates, the camera module itself has failed — see rear camera repair. Customers commonly confuse these two faults, and ExpressTech confirms which applies before quoting.
An iPhone that has been in contact with liquid. Act immediately rather than waiting to see whether it recovers. See iPhone liquid damage repair, and read the liquid guidance in Before you book below.
Before you book
The checks below are worth doing before booking any iPhone repair. Some of them mean no repair is needed at all, and ExpressTech would rather you did not pay for something you can resolve yourself.
If an iPhone will not charge: try a different cable and a different mains plug, not a laptop USB port. Then look into the charging port with a torch. Grey compacted fluff at the base of the port is common and prevents the cable seating fully. With the phone powered off, a wooden toothpick used gently will often clear it. Do not use anything metal. If the iPhone then charges normally, no repair is required.
If an iPhone is slow or crashing: restart it fully before assuming a hardware fault, then check Settings, General, iPhone Storage. An iPhone with under roughly 1GB of free storage behaves like a faulty one, and clearing space often resolves it entirely.
If you suspect the iPhone battery: check Settings, Battery, Battery Health & Charging. Apple flags service at around 80% maximum capacity, but how the phone behaves matters more than the percentage. An iPhone at 82% that lasts the day is fine; one at 85% that shuts down at 30% is not.
If the iPhone screen flickers faintly at very low brightness: this is normal OLED dimming behaviour on iPhone and is not a fault. Do not replace a working screen because of it.
If an iPhone has been in contact with liquid: do not charge it and do not switch it on. Do not put it in rice — rice does not draw moisture out of a sealed phone and introduces dust into the ports. Power the iPhone off and bring it in as soon as possible. Corrosion inside a wet iPhone progresses over hours rather than days, and the outcome depends heavily on how quickly the phone is opened and cleaned.
How an iPhone repair works at ExpressTech
Walking in to the Dublin workshop. ExpressTech is open Monday to Saturday at Dublin 2 and no appointment is needed. Your iPhone is assessed while you are there, you are given the price and the expected time, and you approve the work before it starts. Walk-in iPhone screen and battery replacements are usually completed in about 60 minutes while you wait.
Sending an iPhone by Collection & Return. ExpressTech collects and returns iPhones Monday to Friday for €30 flat per shipment, round trip, tracked and insured, door to door. That €30 covers the entire collection-and-return journey for one shipment regardless of how many devices it contains. Your iPhone is inspected on arrival and you are contacted with the findings and the price before any work is carried out.
No additional work is ever carried out on your iPhone without asking you first. This applies equally to walk-in and Collection & Return repairs.
Parts and quality options
ExpressTech uses the right quality part for the device and repair. iPhone screens are Soft OLED — the iPhone screen standard — with one clear price per model. On iPhone batteries you choose between two battery qualities, both prices shown up front, with Genuine Apple available where supply allows. Every option is explained before any work begins.
Two things are worth knowing before choosing iPhone parts. On some iPhone models, fitting a non-Genuine battery removes the Battery Health percentage from Settings — the battery functions normally, but iOS stops reporting its capacity. iOS may also display a parts notice after a non-Genuine replacement. Neither affects how the repair performs, and ExpressTech explains both before the work rather than leaving them to be discovered afterwards.
ExpressTech is an independent repair specialist by choice, not because it could not be authorised. That independence is what makes offering a genuine parts choice possible at all. ExpressTech does not claim any manufacturer authorisation.
Your data during an iPhone repair
ExpressTech does not wipe iPhones in order to repair them, and a passcode is not required for most repairs. Back up your iPhone before any repair regardless — hardware that is already failing can fail further during a repair, at any workshop.
For iPhone liquid damage and no-power faults, data recovery cannot be guaranteed by ExpressTech or by anyone else. Any repairer who guarantees data recovery from a liquid-damaged phone is guessing.
After your iPhone repair
Your repaired iPhone is tested before it is returned to you: display and touch response across the whole screen, charging, cameras, speakers, microphones and Face ID where relevant. ExpressTech confirms what was replaced and what was tested when handing the phone back or returning it.
A replaced iPhone screen or battery needs no settling-in period and no calibration ritual. Charge and use the phone normally. If a replaced battery reports its health differently from the original, or iOS shows a parts notice, that is expected behaviour after a non-Genuine part and not a fault.
If something is not right after an ExpressTech repair, contact ExpressTech rather than waiting. Faults with a part fitted by ExpressTech or with the workmanship are covered by the warranty below, and diagnosing them early is always easier.
Warranty
Every completed repair at ExpressTech is backed by a 12-month warranty on parts and workmanship. It covers faulty parts and faulty workmanship. It does not cover new accidental damage, misuse, or unrelated faults arising after the repair.
iPhone liquid damage repairs are excluded from the 12-month warranty, because corrosion can continue after a device has been cleaned and restored to working order. ExpressTech explains this exclusion before any liquid damage work is approved.
When ExpressTech would recommend not repairing an iPhone
Sometimes the honest answer is that an iPhone repair is not worthwhile, and ExpressTech will say so before you commit to anything.
An older iPhone with extensive liquid corrosion can cost more to attempt than the phone is worth, with no guaranteed outcome. An iPhone needing a screen, a battery and rear glass together is often past the point of sensible spend. Where a repair would approach the cost of a good replacement handset, ExpressTech will tell you rather than take the work.
Common questions about iPhone repair in Ireland
Will my iPhone still be water resistant after a repair? No. An iPhone loses its original water-resistance rating once the display or rear glass has been opened, at any repair centre including Apple. ExpressTech reseals the device during reassembly, which restores splash resistance, but ExpressTech does not represent a repaired iPhone as retaining its factory IP rating. Treat a repaired iPhone as no longer water resistant.
Will Face ID still work after an iPhone screen replacement? Yes, when the original Face ID components are intact — ExpressTech transfers them to the new display as standard. The full explanation, including what happens when those components are themselves damaged, is on the iPhone screen repair page.
Can ExpressTech repair an iPhone that is locked to someone else's Apple Account? ExpressTech can carry out repairs on a locked iPhone, but cannot remove Activation Lock — no repairer can, and anyone claiming otherwise should be avoided. Removing Activation Lock requires the original Apple Account credentials or Apple's own proof-of-purchase process.
Will ExpressTech repair an iPhone another shop has already worked on? Usually yes. Tell ExpressTech what was previously done, as it shortens diagnosis.
How long does an iPhone repair take? Walk-in iPhone screen and battery replacements at ExpressTech are usually completed in about 60 minutes. Liquid damage and no-power faults are diagnostic work, and the time depends on the fault; ExpressTech confirms timing before starting.
The questions people actually ask.
What iPhone repairs do you offer?
ExpressTech repairs every common iPhone fault: screen replacement, battery replacement, charging port repair, back glass replacement, camera repair and speaker or microphone repair. Our technicians use high-grade parts and hand-test every unit before return. 12-month warranty on parts and workmanship on every repair.
How do I choose the right iPhone series?
Start by picking your iPhone generation (iPhone 17, 16, 15 and so on) from the cards above. Each series page shows the exact models in that generation such as Pro Max, Pro, Plus, standard, mini or SE, and then the available repairs for the model you select. If you are not sure which iPhone you own, check Settings, General, About on your device, or visit our store and we will identify it for you.
Do you repair older iPhones and iPhone SE models?
Yes. We repair every iPhone from the iPhone X series (X, XS, XR) through the three generations of iPhone SE up to the latest iPhone 17 lineup. Parts availability varies by model. For very old models we confirm parts availability before starting work.
How long do iPhone repairs usually take?
Most iPhone screen and battery repairs are completed in 60 minutes at our Dublin 2 store. A straightforward charging port clean is done while you wait; rear camera and back glass repairs usually take longer and are most often completed the same day. Visit our store during opening hours, no appointment needed. For nationwide courier customers, allow 3 to 4 working days from collection to return.
Can I visit without an appointment?
Yes. Walk in to 110 Baggot Street Lower, Dublin 2 any time during opening hours. No booking required. Most common iPhone repairs are completed while you wait.
Do you offer nationwide iPhone repair by courier?
Yes. We offer a secure nationwide courier service across Ireland covering Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford and every county in between. We collect your iPhone, repair it at our Dublin workshop, and return it to you. Courier collection and return costs €30 added to the repair price.
Will my iPhone data be safe during the repair?
Yes. We do not access your data, photos, contacts or messages during standard hardware repairs, and your data is never accessed, transferred or erased unless you explicitly ask us to carry out a data-related service. We recommend keeping an iCloud backup as a general precaution before any repair.
Do you provide VAT invoices for business or school customers?
Yes. We issue VAT invoices for every repair and work with many Dublin and nationwide businesses, schools and universities. We can arrange bulk collection for fleet iPhone repairs. Contact us at hello@expresstech.ie for business and education rates.
What warranty comes with an iPhone repair?
Every completed repair is backed by a 12-month warranty on parts and workmanship. It covers faulty parts and workmanship, but does not cover new accidental damage, misuse or unrelated faults after the repair. Liquid damage repairs are excluded due to the risk of ongoing corrosion.
Can I choose the quality of the replacement part?
We use the right quality part for the device and repair. iPhone screens are Soft OLED — the iPhone screen standard — with one clear price per model. On iPhone batteries you choose between two battery qualities, both prices shown up front, with Genuine Apple available where supply allows. Every option and price is on the repair page before you book.
Bring us the iPhone.
A human answers during opening hours — and if a repair isn't worth doing, we'll say so before you spend anything.
